Review of spot treatment techniques

The early detection and spot treatment of disease patches, when they first appear, needs to be a key focus on every mushroom farm.

This aspect of management can differentiate farms that have serious and persistent disease (and significant losses where small patches soon become whole flushes seriously affected) and those that have disease appearing intermittently but not becoming a major problem.

If small patches keep turning into bigger problems on your farm, the answer often lies in the process.

This article from MushroomLink Magazine Issue #18 covers how to find every patch, train pickers to spot early symptoms, and treat Dry Bubble and Cobweb correctly. It also covers why treatment must continue to the end of the crop, and how to handle unfamiliar symptoms, including green mould.
