Mushroom market data

The biannual NielsenIQ Homescan report, which includes the 52 weeks to 19 April 2026, shows Australia’s mushroom sales have seen a steady performance over the past 12 months, with retail volumes growing despite softer shopper participation and ongoing challenges across the fresh produce sector.

Mushroom dollar sales declined marginally by 0.8% year-on-year, while retail volume increased by 1.6%.

By comparison, the overall fresh vegetable category recorded value growth of 3.5% and volume growth of 1.0%. Categories such as tomatoes (+4.2% value, -0.4% volume), broccoli (+4.7% value, +1.5% volume) and sweet potatoes (+9.0% value, +4.6% volume) outperformed mushrooms in terms of value sales growth during the reporting period.
